My favourite presentation tip: “discover your own style”

Background: After studying international relations and political science, I have started my journey as a TV journalist. The first turning point in my career was to win the Fulbright scholarship, which gave me the opportunity to study “broadcast journalism” at Boston University. Later my dream came true when I passed the exams of CNN, where I worked as an associate producer for CNN International in Atlanta. Later I pursued my career in Turkey, hosting news shows, interviewing hundreds of celebrities at national TV stations for more than 10 years. In 2007, I have received my PhD degree in communication, and founded my own company, Sedef Kabas Communication & Consultancy. Since then I have the joy of coaching executives, professionals and people who want to explore their skills in communication. I give trainings to large organizations like Coca-Cola, BAYER, SABANCI Group, as well as mid scale ones in Turkey. I am especially aiming to assist people who want to reinforce their communication skills with two great values: integrity and sincerity. Good communication starts within us. Therefore I coach people first to talk to themselves honestly and later talk to others effectively. I also have significant experience training people to be “camera friendly” and use the dynamics of interviews cleverly. Two feedbacks I would like to share are of Suzan Sabancı Dinçer, Chairman of Akbank, (one of the largest banks in Turkey), who said, “working with Sedef, reinforced my self confidence and increased the quality of my life” and Dr. Sebastian Guth, BAYER Turk Ceo, who said “Sedef Kabaş is an experienced media trainer who has a great style. Her ability to ask tough questions, drawing answers out from us, then critiquing in a constructive way proved very helpful for our team to becoming better speakers and communicators.” In short, my motto is “good communication, good life”.
